Motorcyclists
|
| Motorcyclists are constantly exposed to high levels of noise caused predominantly by the wind. Measurements made by the Occupational Health & Safety Service of the Dutch Government showed that at 50mph the sound level under the helmet was 90 decibels.
Speed has a significant effect on the sound level and for each 12 mph increase in speed, the intensity of sound is doubled. This means that at just over 60mph, the motorcyclist is exposed to approximately the same sound levels as a circular saw operator who would not be allowed by law to operate this equipment without mandatory use of hearing protection.
Specially developed for the motorcyclists of the Dutch police, the Elacin Biopact utilises filters used in other Elacin products, but is made from soft Biosoft material. Together with a crash helmet and communication equipment, Elacin can be worn for a long time with comfort. |

Musician’s Ear Plugs

Passive earplugs are made of a soft durable silicone material. These customised, very comfortable products effectively reduce all sound input to non-threatening levels. These products are excellent for clay pigeon shooting.
Custom-made electronic devices are also available which act as hearing enhancers, amplifying low level sounds, but acting as a plug as soon as any loud input signals are detected. These are particularly suitable when hunting live game. |

Ear Plugs for the Work Environment

| As per industrial law, an individual can be exposed to a sound pressure level 80dB(A) for a maximum of 8 hours. At this level, the employer upon request must make hearing protection available. Where the noise level exceeds 85dB(A), it is a legal requirement to provide hearing protection.
Certain types of earplugs can be fitted with a cord, which is convenient if the earpieces are to be inserted and removed regularly.
